Walking Dead: Whatever Happened to Lori?

Two episodes ago, Lori apparently died giving birth.  Carl apparently shot her to make sure she does not re-animate to become the undead.  However, when Rick, in his misery, went back to the cell block where Lori apparently died---she was not there!  There is this notion that the bloated zombie slumped near the area where Lori apparently died made a meal out of her body---but is she really dead?  Well the chances of her surviving an unstiched up C-section is realistically unlikely, but the imagination of the series writers might just spin off a rather interesting twist.  Otherwise, why not just show the viewers what has become of Lori?  What do I know---I'm just a televiewer curiously wondering...and then I saw this picture...

Is this what has become of Lori?

Walking Dead Episode 4

The writers of this series really got us by the nuts as to who's going to die next!

All this while, I was under the impression that either Hershel, Beth, T-Dog, or Carol would become the next zombie menu.  This is mainly because of their character's significance in the whole scheme of things.  Hershel almost died two episodes ago but didn't.  T-Dog dies in this episode (not surprised).  But then Lori dies...?!  Well, or assumed to be dead (it was not shown if Carl really pulled the trigger on his mother).  If Carl did not put a bullet to his mother's head---can somebody who just had a caesarian section survive alone?  Does she come back as a good zombie and remains on the show?  Well, obviously I like Lori's character...why did the damn writers have to kill her?!

Elementary and Last Resort: New TV Series to Follow

Last Resort

I read a review of this new TV series from ABC which got me curious.  Obviously, it was a positive review but what got my attention was its similarity with the movie Crimson Tide.  I was wondering how the writers are going to spin the story.

After two episodes it looks like a good watch.

After given an authenticated order to nuke Pakistan, Captain Marcus Chaplin (Andre Braugher) of the Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine USS Colorado questions the order since it was coursed through the emergency channel and not the normal order protocol.  That decision merited their crew to be fired upon by another US submarine and left for dead only to surface at a remote French island in the Indian Ocean and commandeers a NATO communications facility.

Aside from their conflict with the United States government, in fighting among their ranks also put color in the plot as there are those who is for and against the captain's actions.  Scott Speedman (as Lt. Commander Sam Kendal) and Robert Patrick (as COB Chief Petty Officer Joseph Prosser) also stars.

Elementary

Is an Americanized version of Sherlock Holmes---at least in terms of location and time setting.  Based on the novel of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Sherlock Holmes (Johnny Lee Miller) is a former Scotland Yard consultant banished by his father to New York for rehabilitation. After getting out of rehab, he now consults with Capt. Tobias Gregson (Aidan Quinn) of the New York Police Department. Dr. Joan Watson (Lucy Liu) plays his rehab companion to make sure that Sherlock complies to all his father's requirements or face living on the streets of New York.    I must admit it was a real nice spin to have Watson played by a woman---a pretty one at that!

Come to think of it, this TV series kind of reminds me of House.  Or should I say House took from Sherlock Holmes' fascination for solving puzzles?

They're Back!

After a long wait that seemed to be forever, my favorite TV series are back!  Looking forward to the plantsa days ahead!

NCIS Season 10

It was a cliff hanger Season 9 ending after Harper Dearing detonates a bomb in the NCIS headquarters.  Then Ducky was shown to have had a fatal heart attack after hearing of the events.  Well good news guys!  The team is back---WHOLE!  Gibbs and Dearing goes for a final showdown and we know who's left standing!

NCIS Los Angeles Season 4

Another cliffhanger finish last season where Callen shoots the Chameleon on live television before the prisoner exchange with a CIA agent and is carted off by the police.  Hetty resigns (again) after the incident and the team was left in the state of disarray.  Everything turned out to be a ruse by the team to avert an international incident with the Iranians.

Person of Interest

Finch gets a visit from an old friend and turns out to be a set up to flush him out.  Left alone, Reese looks up to Finch's contingency plan---The Machine---determined to rescue Finch from Ruth.  Or so he thought...

Dexter Season 7

Travis turns out to be the real Doomsday Killer and Debra witnesses Dexter serve him justice.  What happens next?  Well, a good serial killer is a good liar.  Unfortunately, Deb is a good cop with the tenacity of a pitbull.  Now how will Dexter extricate himself from this dilemma?  I guess, we'll find out in the next couple of episodes.

Supernatural Season 8

The Winchesters have been to hell and back---literally!  When Dean zapped Dick to kingdom come, he inadvertently transported himself to Purgatory!  But I guess Sam and Dean does have nine lives.  Dean survives Purgatory with the help of a demon after one year of "bloody, messy, and thirty-one colors of bottom dwelling nasties".

The two brothers finally meet up and have their own stories to tell but they need to find the Prophet (Kevin) before the demons do.

House M.D. Season 8 Finale

After eight seasons, House M.D. aired its last episode last May 21.  In that episode we were almost led to believe that Gregory House M.D. died in a burning building forced by his own egomaniacal need for the "interesting".  But guys, this is House!  He's James Bond in a doctor's suit!  We've watched him hatch season after season of Houdini-like cunning it's no longer a surprise that he came out of that building alive!  Besides, no fun closing this series with a dead character!

Goodbye House!

New TV Series: Missing

There's nothing quite like a female lead in an action movie, or,  in this case, a TV series.

Missing stars Ashley Judd as Becca Winsstone, a mother in search for her son Michael who was abducted in Rome during his summer architecture program.  Unbeknownst to her fellow PTA colleagues and her son Michael, Becca and her husband Paul, were former CIA operatives.  Becca left the Agency after Paul dies in a car bombing incident allegedly perpetrated by terrorists.  After 10 years of domestic existence as a dotting mother with a budding flower shop business, she has to rely on her old skill sets, former contacts (both allies and foes) as she goes across Europe in search for her missing son.

So far I have watched two episodes and it has been a roller coaster ride of action and thrills.  However, if you're expecting a pretty Ashley Judd---you won't find her in this series.  Becca Winstone is a battle hardened operative and she was made to look the part.

On the other hand, I guess she just got OLDer.

The Lone Ranger Re-make 2013

I was not aware that there's going to be a Lone Ranger Re-make in the making until I saw a picture with Armie Hammer as The Lone Ranger and Johnny Depp playing his sidekick Tonto.  The film will be under Disney films and will be directed by Jerry Bruckheimer.  Tentative release date will be on May 2013.

I grew up watching The Lone Ranger TV series.  They were actually re-runs already since the airing of which was from 1949 to 1957 with Clayton Moore playing the Lone Ranger and Jay Silverheels as Tonto.

The Lone Ranger's catchphrase was "Hi-yo, Silver! Away!" which he would say every time he galloped away with his white horse Silver.  Tonto referred to the Lone Ranger as "Ke-mo sah-bee" which means "trusty scout" or "trusted friend.  Other than these other Lone Ranger trademarks would be the silver bullets that he used and the William Tell Overture which became indelibly marked in the memories of the millions who came of age watching the TV series.  Believe it or not but The Lone Ranger re-runs were still being transmitted as of August 2010, sixty-one years after their initial broadcast.

I'm sure many are as curious as I am as to how Johnny Depp will play the role of Tonto.    Based on that head dress he's wearing I'm sure we'll all be in for a big surprise!

TV Series Review: A Gifted Man

I have been following "House" for eight seasons now so it's no wonder that after watching the first episode of "A Gifted Man" I was instantly hooked.  It was like watching a more likeable version of Dr. House minus the team of other doctors but with the same amount of medical brilliance.

An officemate told me he read good reviews about the show and wanted to try watching an episode.  So I downloaded one and out of personal curiosity gave myself a shot at it (well, I already told you what happened next.).

The story evolves around Dr. Michael Holt (Patrick Wilson), a neurosurgeon at an upscale private clinic in New York.  He ran a very successful practice and practically on top of his game until he saw his ex-wife Anna (Jennifer Ehle) whom he hasn't been in contact with for a long while.  Apparently, Michael still had feelings for her and was in a verge of rekindling old flames when he found out that she has been dead two weeks prior.  That's when Michael's "perfect" world of materialism and rich clients came crashing down and he is forced to face what the real world is all about and what it really means to be a good doctor.
