I was a Green Arrow fan when I was little. However, he was not really a significant hero in the DC universe and languished in comic book anonymity for the last 70 years or so. I guess it was the lack of imagination with regard to his character. Billionaire...playboy...hero...ring a bell? But I did like watching him as part of the Justice League.
I again had a glimpse of Green Arrow in the TV series Smallville where he was played by Justin Hartley. Well it seems that he got himself quite a following in this series and became a core cast in its final season. Now, we have Arrow, a new live action series based on the story of The Green Arrow. Stephen Amell plays Oliver Queen, the billionaire playboy, who, after being shipwrecked on a remote island for five years, comes back to Starling City to fight crime and corruption.
The pilot episode was shown last October 10 and it looks promising. It's Batman-ish in a Christopher Nolan sort of way. Let's see how the next couple of episodes go.
Oh, oh, oh! Kelly Hu will also be part of the show as China White. Hooo-weee!
