Premiere Vixens: A Second Look

FHM's search for the Premiere Vixen culminated last October 30, 2010 with Paulene So, Karen Bordador, and Christine Marquez chosen as the next Premiere Condom ambassadorss.  I'm sure the judges had a hard time judging given the line up beautiful contestants.  Here's a run down of the top ladies of the event.   Leave it to FHM to keep the batmans (ba-tang man-yak) in "attention".

Green Bay Packers Win Superbowl XLV

The Green Bay Packers won Superbowl XLV via a 31-25 squeeker versus the Pittsburg Steelers.  It's the first win with Aaron Rogers as quarterback---finally getting him out of the shadows of the legend of Brett Favre. 

It was a tightly contested game which started lopsidedly for the Packers but the Steelers, not to be undone, came back in the late in the 2nd quarter and it was close until the final second of the game.  The Stealers last drive was reminiscent of the game winning drive they had when they won the Superbowl XLIII against the Arizona Cardinals but this time they came up short.  Whew! 

The win got me a Venti Caramel Machiatto from an officemate and as we were discussing post-game analysis he asked if I knew what the "G" in the Green Bay Packers logo stood for.  Obvious isn't it---Green Bay.  Wrong!  Below is the answer to that question and other interesting Green Bay Packers trivias.

• Did you know that the "G" in the Packer's logo does not actually stand for Green Bay?  "G" stands for GREATNESS.  It was created in 1961 by Packers equipment manager George "Dad" Braisher.
• How many league championships have the Green Bay Packers won?  They have won 12 (1929-30-31-36-39, 1944, 1961-62-65-66-67, 1996)
• It has been a tradition for a Packer player to do the "Lambeau Leap" everytime a touchdown is scored.  Who was the very first player to do this?  LeRoy Butler, December 23, 1993.
• Why are the Green Bay Packer fans called Cheeseheads?  The term "Cheesehead" was suppose to have been meant as an insult by a Chicago White Sox fan at a Milwaukee Brewers' game in 1987.  Since the people of Wisconsin is known for its cheese production it the brand was embrased by the fans as the official term of endearment. 
• What was the Green Bay Packers originally called?  Founded on August 11, 1919, by Earl "Curly" Lambeau, the Green Bay Packers were originally known as the Indian Packers. The team was named after their original sponsor, Lambeau's employer, the Indian Packing Company. In 1921, the year the Packers joined the NFL, Lambeau's employer was bought out by the Acme Packing Company, and he changed the team name to the "Acme Packers." (Some sources consider this the original name because they don't count the first two years when the Packers operated as an independent football team.) Neither name stuck, however, and "Green Bay Packers" soon became the official name.

  Who was the Green Bay Packer quarterback who holds the team record for most passing yards in a season?   In 1983, Green Bay Packers quarterback Lynn Dickey threw for 4,458 yards, setting a team record for most passing yards in a season.

My Pick to Win Superbowl XLV

This Monday's Superbowl game will be the first that I'm going to miss in the years that I have declared Superbowl Monday as an official holiday in my calendar.  Let us not discuss the WHY of it so let me just go straight to my declaration as to who will win Superbowl XLV:  The Greenbay Packers!

Yeah, yeah...I'm biased alright!  I am afterall a Greenbay Packer fan.  I'm a certified cheesehead that I wagered for a Starbucks Venti Caramel Macchiato with an officemate amidst Madden 11 forecast of a Steelers win.  The simulated Madden Superbowl game have correctly predicted the outcome of last 6 of the 7 Superbowls and has predicted a 24-20 Steelers win come Monday. 

Well, simulation is based on chances.  Mine's is based on the belief that the Packer defense will neutralize the running game of the Steelers and smother Big Ben with their pass rush defense.  Both teams are actually evenly matched on both sides of the field.  But at the end of it all, its the team who wants it more and whose side the the ball bounces will win. 

Greenbay have not won the Superbowl since the 1996 season and I believe this makes them the hungrier team.  I just hope the breaks of the game will bounce their side.  If they do win I'd guess it'll be at least by 7 points and with them getting the early score.

Senior vs. Junior: My Take on the Dysfunction of the Teutul Family

I have been following the reality show American Chopper for 7 years now and I have grown a big respect for the Teutuls.  They are rooted and obviously gives a deal with their community.  And they can be a fun-loving bunch of lunatics when it strikes their fancy!  However, the crazy fun can be as intense when it comes to the feuding between Senior and Junior.

During the first few seasons, I have come to justify the conflict between father and son.  They both have the same end in mind---to come up with the best, bad ass looking chopper for their customer.  They do have a reputation to protect and a growing business to sustain.  However, they grew up in two different worlds.  Senior's is based on hardwork, discipline, and structure.  Not that Junior isn't hardworking.  Senior's work ethic thrives from a project manager's point of view where all tasks are defined based on time.  Other than that---well, he's the owner of the shop numb nuts!  Ha!  Ha!  A classic Senior expression eh?

Junior on the other hand is the fabricator.  The creative partner in the business.  To him, creativity is a process---a work in progress.  Like most artists, he's not constrained by time and this is where the conflict arises.  Although in the past seasons, Junior has yet to miss a deadline, Senior is always on edge everytime a bike build is in progress. 

The problem with Senior is that he does not seem to realize the value of Junior in the company.  Much that he does not want to admit it, Junior did was the one who came out with many of the earlier bikes.  Although Orange County Choppers still build custom bike for the show, the business has now grown to cater to production bikes.  This meant multi-tasking and faster builds due to close deadlines.  Junior's style no longer fit the way the business is going. The hiring of Jason Pohl as the bike designer is proof of this direction.  

Although Junior still has a say in terms of the design aspect, it is no longer a one at a time project where he can devote his creative talents to.  Multiple projects are accepted and designs are finalized via computer rendition done by Jason.  This way, everyone is aligned to how the bike will look like even before it gets build.  Design and build.  Design and build.  Business is booming!

Unfortunately, Junior did not evolve towards the direction of the business.  As the boss and as a father, Senior could have steered his son to where the business was going and the changes that needed to be done to adapt; however, Senior's lack of managerial skill proved detrimental to the father son relationship as he kept on venting anger towards his son everytime he's see Junior "slacking off".  It was a collision course towards the inevitable break-up.

This far into the season, we can see that PJD's business is picking up with four bike builds so far.  Though PJD is still far compared to the fame of OCC, Junior is slowly breaking away from the OCC shadow and making a name of his own.  Logically, a father should be beaming with pride, unfortunately, Senior is downplaying Junior's accomplishments and giving more derogatory statements than support.  This is something that have kept the viewers intrigued.  In the various interviews on the show, Senior has been contradicting himself a lot.  One time he is saying he wants a reconciliation with his son then he attacks his person in another.  This inconsistensies has made him the sinister villain of the show.

It is saddening to see father and son part ways.  One good thing that resulted in this split is the show's renewal for another season.  Another interesting twist to the Teutul family dynamics.
